ITE Pakistan (A Global Section of ITE International) is proud to play its role in organizing first of its own kind Lahore Transport Week, along with NESPAK and Punjab Mass Transit Authority (PMA)
Lahore has been badly hit by the effects of climate change and environmental degradation. Transport sector has been attributed as amongst the biggest polluters of the city. Carbon footprint has sky-rocketed and urban sprawl has engulfed green spaces in and around the city. Millions of new vehicles are poured onto Lahore’s roads and streets annually and now Lahore’s large and small transportation arteries remain choked in spite of pumping in billions of rupees on traffic management, construction of signal free corridors, underpasses and flyovers. This has rendered the city into a new jungle of concrete. The city turns into a living hell in the times of extreme hot summers and smog laden days and nights of winters. Addressing these issues requires a holistic approach and integration amongst government and private institutions, academia, citizenry and all stakeholders whose very existence hinges on future of this city.
Punjab Mass Transit Authority in collaboration with NESPAK and ITE Pakistan has arranged a series of consultative sessions and seminars at the NESPAK House for an entire week from 22 July to 31 July, 2024 with an aim to provide a platform to call stakeholders, government departments and agencies to synergize their efforts for a shared goal under the auspices of Committee of Integrated Urban Transport Planning (C-IUTP) notified by the present Government on 15 March 2024. At the end of these separate consultative sessions, the findings and recommendations of the experts will be integrated through a large symposium to be attended by government officials, academia, media, citizenry, local and international development partners and other stakeholders.
