ReSound Nexia 9 Hearing Aids Direct to iPhone

ReSound’s sound processing and app are two of my favorite features from the brand. Thanks to this Bluetooth function, the Resound Nexia micro RIE 9 hearing aids are compatible with the latest smartphones. Users can connect their hearing aids to their iPhone or iPad to make hands-free calls and stream music to the hearing aids. Although these hearing aids are made for iPhones, they are also compatible with Android 14. This new model in the Resound Nexia line offers 17 bands for individual customization. It features noise tracking with five settings for managing background noise and enhanced binaural background noise management through the environmental optimization function.

Our suggestion, if you are in the market for behind-the-ear style  ReSound hearing aids, make sure you ask for NEXIA. If you prefer in-the-ear styles or have profound hearing loss, you may need to wait a few months until the new system rolls out across the rest of the family. Compatible with rechargeable customs and behind-the-ear models, excluding receiver-in-canals.

Smaller ear canals may not comfortably accommodate M&RIE, and the potential for feedback (squealing) increases due to microphone proximity. Nexia hearing aids may be the first to incorporate Auracast, but we think others will soon follow. In fact, Signia’s IX line is reportedly "Auracast-ready,” meaning it just needs a firmware update to activate the technology. Battery Life and Charging

  • I’ve been fitting ReSound hearing aids since they first came out in the late 1980s.
  • The speech in noise score measured for the Resound Nexia 9 60s microRIE was 0.94 points below the average of 79 other devices tested.
  • Their wireless connectivity to smartphones and accessories is very easy for patients and has proven to be rock solid.

They can adjust volume levels individually or simultaneously for both ears and utilize the Sound Enhancer, which includes a three-band equalizer for audio adjustments, applicable to streaming as well. Additional features such as noise and wind noise reduction can also be adjusted. AuraCast Bluetooth offers a multitude of benefits, promising enhanced stability and audio quality compared to traditional Bluetooth standards. Notably, it boasts reduced battery drain, prolonging the lifespan of the hearing aid batteries. Additionally, it introduces a groundbreaking feature known as Broadcast Audio, allowing users to seamlessly share audio signals with others or receive shared audio signals from companions. Likewise, the two rechargeable BTEs also have telecoils so they represent a ubiquitous solution for streaming and receiving audio.

For those unfamiliar with signal-to-noise ratio improvements, a one decibel enhancement roughly translates to a 10% improvement in handling background noise. The custom ITE/ITC hearing aids get their power from a special Custom Charger that contains two specially created inserts that match the shape of each hearing aid for seamless, reliable charging. Like the RIE and BTE devices, the custom aids can be expected to offer up to 24 hours use-time on a single charge for all-day use. This technology aims to overcome microphone placement limitations inherent in RIC and BTE hearing aids. The push buttons on the back of the Resound NEXIA microRIE 9 hearing aids can be programmed to change the volume, activate streaming, or switch programs with just two taps. While we really like the Resound ONE and the industry leading rechargeability with up to 30 hours of power from a 3 hour charge, we don’t like that it’s only available in the small over the ear style.
